Charlotte's Story
Our family have been baking since 1895. It all started in the small fishing village Carradale on the West Coast of Scotland, a peninsula on the Mull of Kintyre.

About Charlotte
The woman whose passion for baking shaped generations.
Charlotte was a baker and wife of John Ritchie, who took the Bungalow Bakery into its third generation of family ownership.

She expanded the bakery to include a shop and tearoom, where freshly baked scones, shortbreads, fruit squares, and traditional Scottish ice drinks became local favourites.
Charlotte lived to be 100, receiving a congratulatory card from Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II.
A Queen’s Tribute
On Charlotte’s 100th birthday, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II sent her a personal card, honouring her century of resilience and love.
The card featured the royal coat of arms and a warm message:

This royal recognition became a symbol of Charlotte’s dignity, strength, and the legacy she passed down through family and food.
“I am delighted to send you my warm congratulations on your One Hundredth birthday, together with my very best wishes for an enjoyable celebration.”

Baked the Way Grandma Used To
Carrying Charlotte’s recipes and traditions into the fifth generation.
Today, Charlotte’s grandson Colin carries her traditions into the fifth generation of baking.
Our bakery is dedicated to keeping her spirit alive, creating food that nourishes, connects, and brings people together, just as she always did.
